Announcing the Launch of the Women of Color in Computing Researcher/Practitioner Collaborative
The Kapor Center has partnered with the Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology (CGEST) at ASU to launch the Women of Color in Computing Researcher/Practitioner Collaborative.
The experience, knowledge, and creativity of women of color are critical to technological innovation and advancement. Yet, many of the efforts to increase diversity in tech have focused on race or gender, often excluding and overlooking the unique experiences and obstacles of women of color in computing.
The Women of Color in Computing Researcher/Practitioner Collaborative is an exciting new initiative to develop, test, and scale strategies, programs, and interventions to increase the participation and persistence of women of color in the technology ecosystem.
As a first step, today we are releasing a new data brief which contains the first synthesis of intersectional data trends for women of color in computing.
The Women of Color in Computing Researcher/Practitioner Collaborative will work with researchers across the country to compile data, conduct research, and disseminate findings on the following priority topic areas:
Entry, Persistence, and Degree Completion in Computing in Higher Education
Participation and Retention of Women of Color in the Technology Workforce
Participation of Women of Color Across the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Ecosystem
