Event Review: Special Preconference for Women of Color in Computing Research Collaborative

On October 4, 2018, a special preconference was held prior to the Women of Color STEM Entrepreneurship Conference at ASU Law School in downtown Phoenix. This event brought together the Principal Investigators of the Women of Color in Computing Research Collaborative, Drs. Allison Scott and Kimberly Scott, with the new Senior Fellows, Drs. Mia Ong, Jakita Thomas, and Luis Leyva.

In the morning, each Fellow presented their projects and received feedback from the PIs as well as the other Fellows, then engaged in an open discussion about how their projects fit within the greater scope of the WOC in Computing Research Collaborative.

Later that afternoon, the Senior Fellows were joined by leaders from ASU to engage in a collaborative discussion about their work and possible future directions for ongoing academic engagement.

This was an outstanding and engaging kickoff to the new Senior Fellowship Program supported by the Women of Color in Computing Research Collaborative!
