Meet the Summer 2022 Mentor Teachers
Hosting culturally responsive camps for culturally and linguistically diverse youth is what we do at CGEST as part of the capacity-building focus to promote gender equity in science and technology. Over the years, we have relied on the talent and dedication of formal and informally trained teachers to implement the culturally responsive curriculum for Compugirls camps. This summer we are pleased to introduce the new cohort of mentor teachers for the Compugirls Cyber Warriors Cybersecurity camp funded by the Department of Defense grant. These four mentor teachers are ASU students from different disciplines who mentor the 13 to 18-year-old Compugirls for the Cybersecurity week-long summer in-person experience.
The summer camp takes place the last week of June from the 27 to July 1 with youth from all over the city of Phoenix. Each day, the camp mentors will spend four hours with an expected 40+ Compugirls delivering lessons related to Cybersecurity and hands-on activities like building a remotely operated underwater vehicle.
