Staff Spotlight: Isabel Vargas
This month's staff spotlight is a little different than our past months because we are highlighting one of our student workers who is leaving us (so sad!). Isabel Vargas has been with CGEST for a little over a year as an admin assistant and just graduated from ASU, with a BA in Psychology, and is moving on to her very first career position post-graduation (so exciting)! We wanted to be sure to give Isabel a huge shout-out as she completes this chapter of her life, we are honored to have been a part of it.
Isabel spent the better part of the last year at CGEST assisting with scheduling needs while communicating with various partners and programs within and outside ASU. She has been a huge support to completing a wide arrangement of administrative tasks with our assistant director and has helped our center run so much more smoothly since her arrival. Isabel stepped in to help our Women of Color STEM Entrepreneurship Conference this year hosting various sessions to be sure all the technology ran smoothly and attendees had the best experience possible.
Isabel has been a true asset to our team and we know she will excel in her next position. So before she leaves we had her answer some questions for all of you so you can learn a little bit more about what makes her so special.

What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is getting to meet and work with so many brilliant minds that value diversity and are passionate about uplifting women of color.
What has been one of your proudest moments at CGEST?
Getting to be part of the WOC STEM Entrepreneurship conference and seeing our team's hard work pay off.
I am committed to advancing equity for women of color in STEM because...
as a woman of color I know we have been excluded for far too long and there is an abundance of intelligent women who could probably change the world if they were given the right opportunities.
Thank you Isabel for taking the time to share a little bit more about you with all of us! We are sorry to see you go but wish you the very best in your career path. We believe you are bound for great things.
