Welcome to the CGEST Blog!
Welcome to the launch of the official blog for the Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology at ASU. This blog is one part of our social media suite that will be used by CGEST to communicate about our events, open discussions about topics relevant to our mission, and collaborate with partners and affiliates in generative and cooperative ways. For the next few months, we will give special attention to promoting our upcoming Women of Color STEM Entrepreneurship Conference that will be held in Phoenix, AZ on October 4–6 and the Women of Color in Computing Research Collaborative, a multidisciplinary and multicenter research endeavor by the Kapor Center and CGEST.
There will be several types of blog posts used here. Besides general administrative or organizational posts (like this one), we will comment on news events, delve a bit deeper into key concepts and theories in an informal way, spread the word about events hosted by us and by partner organizations, invite guest bloggers to share stories, and do profiles of supporter organizations and people to show how they are promoting gender and intersectional equity in STEM fields.
In addition to posting on this blog, we will also cross-post this on our Twitter (@CGEST_ASU) and Facebook (@CGESTASU). Readers are encouraged to comment in respectful ways that create more and better discussions; moderation will be used to ensure a civil and generative space as needed.
Thank you for joining us! If you have comments or suggestions, please contact us at cgest@asu.edu.
